Occasionally a puppy comes along who just has that 'special' something. White Sapphire, as we called her as a baby, would sneak out of the box to come lie under the puter. Sitting on feet was just a 'thing she liked.'

As she could walk, getting to the puter foot rest was always the goal, mostly to just nap or chew on some toy or chewie.

Someone flew in to look at the girls, and she was an easy pick for her effervescent personality and constantly happy outlook. Couple that with a sweetness and intelligence, she was an easy choice as a possible special's quality Sammie girl.

At 4 months she went to 'train.' She did all things easily, including winning dog shows!

But Summer's favorite thing is to be on a couch! She cuddles with anyone and everyone.

Here is Summer at her first National, SCA 2009 taking Best Reserve Intersex from the 9-12 Puppy Class in Futurity under Chris Higley. Summer also made the cut in regular class, and went 2nd in Sweepstakes.

Summer went to visit Linda Kitzman in Colorado to learn to show....one major the first time into the ring. She gained quite a fan club as well. Summer then went to the national and made her own kind of splash. Then she went to Washington to show the West coast how it's done... 4 points, 5 points, and a 4th major to finish. No minor points for this girl! New champion.

The original plan was to send her out to have fun (which I trust everyone did!), and then we spoke allowing a breeding (it was not ever to sell her and to those who thought she was to be GIVEN away? Really? Have you seen her?), but the people involved decided not to honor their agreements, AND decided to allow breeding of Hawkwind dogs into genetics we do not feel are best for the breed, breedings we feel will produce puppies who will suffer.... so she is in the Hawkwind breeding program for good.

The discovery of those gene combinations that 'just don't work' are things master breeders discover over time. To care about the breed is never to knowingly create Samoyeds who would suffer. If you work with a kennel, respect for the lines they come from are part of the integrity you either have or do not.

In fact, the real knowledge in the breed is held in a few hands. It is to be given to those who work to preserve the Samoyed in health, temperament and as an ancient gift from the past.

We no longer work with those who would knowingly hurt the breed; those who would create puppies who would suffer. The study of genetics behind a breed is an ongoing concern. This is why we invite inquiries so we can direct people to 'responsible' breeders.

And we mean people with integrity.

This girl will be bred under our guidance. That means that health and temperament are prime concerns! Beauty....just comes with the package!
