Agate is the only girl in the "Agate" litter. With her brother, Hawkwind's Malachite Agate, she represents the second of our line to go somewhat 'outside' the basic formula of CH Wolf River's Raptor Ridge kids as a base for our breeding program.

Amethyst is mined in, among other places, northern Minnesota. Sometimes you find an agate that, when cracked open, reveals an Amethyst geode. Agate represents the layering of new 'blood' or pedigrees.

We researched the temperament of this line by having a boy in our home for several months. We take outcrosses quite seriously. Unless we had lived with a dog from these new lines, we would not be confident enough to bring one of our best girls to Lexi. There is definitely the sweetness we desire in these babies.

We delivered Agate's brother to their new owner(s) in Idaho during the 2006 national specialty. Along the way we passed a beautiful area called Painted Canyon. Again, layers of color and beauty. It reminded us of Agate's biscuit shading as well as her pedigree.

Playful, but with a distinct reserve to her nature, Agate has a certain intelligence in her face even here in babyhood (above).  Below, Agate is growing up. 3-1/2 months.

Agate will someday be linebred back into our strong Wolf River pedigrees. She, herself, is out of a pure Wolf River bitch of Seamist breeding, bred to a male who is 1/4 Wolf River. She brings us some delightfully different aspects we expect to cherish into the future!
