 Order of placement goes by postdate of deposit, but we do align the correct temperament for each home. We do not carry a regular 'list' of puppy buyers. Please stay in touch if you want a puppy.

Deposits are non-refundable, but when we accept one that means we approve you as a home and you will be offered a puppy. We take very few reservations; only what we think we can place. Most litters are 'pre-reserved.' We do not refund reservations because we TURN DOWN (or refer people to other breeders), often excellent homes, once we have what we believe is a complete litter reserved. Because we never know how many puppies, etc., the reservation moves to the next available litter if we don't have the temperament, show/working/pet quality, or sex you wished. We do everything we can to make sure your wait is as short as possible and we get the perfect baby for your home and circumstances!

What are WE looking for from you? We want the best homes for Hawkwind puppies.

• Preference to homes where someone is home all day. Babies need a break about every 4 hours.
• Preference goes to homes who will allow the puppies to be shown or who will show the dogs themselves.
• We have found that the more time and training that goes into the first year pays off for the next decade +, so we HIGHLY recommend puppy kindergarten and obedience classes for all of that first year.
• With rare exceptions, we believe a completely fenced yard with a dog proof area is needed for Samoyeds.
• No dogs are sold for breeding before 2 years of age, and all dogs bred must have current eye clearances and hip clearances on OFA. By contract we sell on a non-breeding agreement until the age of two years, which is when clearances can be done. No breeding rights are released without hip and eye clearances.
• All dogs sold for breeding must be titled as working and / or conformation animals to prove their capacity to contribute to the breed.
• If you are thinking of learning how to show dogs, we will be happy to mentor you. We often show the dogs for others who do not wish to do it themselves.  If the dog is part of the Hawkwind breeding program there are other benefits. We want people to have GOOD and HEALTHY Samoyeds!
• Our contracts are designed to have the dog come back to us if any problem should occur and your puppy contract will have provisions should the worst happen and there is a health concern. (To date we have not had a dysplastic dog, heart issue, or juvenile cataract, the most common issues in Samoyeds.)
• Our spay neuter policy does not allow our puppies to be altered until 2 years of age. This is because substantial negative health effects come from early spay neuter including increased risk of osteosarcoma, hermangiosarcoma, thyroid damage, and increased aggression particularly in females. Spay incontinence can happen as well. For brief list of concerns in non-technical language, go here.
• Samoyeds need daily affection and human companionship. They can be very naughty if not given adequate attention. We only sell puppies who are going to be a part of your family. 
• Your non-refundable deposit puts you in line for a puppy. You will be offered one as a prescreened home. If your choices or circumstances change, please let us know. Deposits to reserve a puppy are honored by post date, and the balance is due prior to the puppy leaving our home.

Owning a Hawkwind puppy allows you access to the 'family list' which has resources for training, support and information, as well as celebrating the love we have for our  pets!

Upcoming breedings in the next year+ are as we project and like most things, there are no guarantees on when we can get puppies. Occasionally a breeding misses, or the puppies are all show dogs and no pets are available in a particular litter.

Sometimes there is a wait for a Hawkwind puppy, but our goal is to put the right puppy into the right home for his/her temperament.

Our stud dogs have puppies around the country and occasionally we can refer you to a Hawkwind 'sired' puppy not raised by us. We also work with several breeders on co-ownerships, and we strive for a similar philosophy, but not all puppies are raised at Hawkwind. For security reasons we are less inclined to list where dogs are, but we can and do place puppies outstate, and often can move dogs around the country easily depending upon our show schedule.

Our co ownerships are in Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Wisconsin, Missouri, Georgia, etc.

Reservations taken now are expected to be fulfilled late Spring / Summer 2010..

Reservations are filled for those that have deposits in for puppies FIRST. We often 'grow up' puppies to see how they may or may not fit into our breeding program. So we sometimes have a puppy in the 4-6 month range that may go as a pet or show dog.

Currently we are doing referrals for 4 litters all sired by Hawkwind males.

Most people will wait for a dog raised by us for one of several reasons:

+Temperament
+The way we raise samoyeds
+ Health records (We have 13 OFA Excellent ratings out of 27 dogs registered, which is among the strongest kennel records in the country. We have never bred a samoyed with dysplastic hips. We have never had a diagnosis of juvenile cataracts.)
+Our support throughout the life of your samoyed. We have a family list with vet techs, a vet, trainers, etc., so you have 24/7 resources to information, and the cell phone number to get us 24 hours a day for ANY question on your puppy's health or behavior.
+Or because they are beautiful Samoyeds!

While we often have a waiting list, we do have some puppies available. Two of the litters we're referring to now are in Colorado and St. Cloud.

We hope this answers some of the questions we've had lately. We have several girls that are at the end of their breeding careers, so will do more breeding than we normally do within the next year. Some of those litters are on co ownership and will be raised in other Hawkwind homes.

Process for getting a Hawkwind puppy:

* Fill out the application.
*Interview by phone within a week. Approved homes only.
*Deposit in for Working, Show, or pet puppies for either a particular litter, or next available. Girl, boy or first available. Deposits are non refundable and you will be offered a puppy.
*Show and Working dogs are chosen first.
*Puppies are matched to the home, but we go in order of when the deposit came in for the most part, knowing that the PERFECT match is our goal.
